Built in the Baroque style. It is the principal church of the Diocese of České Budějovice. The cathedralis a statue of John Bishop Valerian Jirsík. In front of the church there are three statues - St.Wenceslas (Czech patron saint), Vol. Nicholas (the patron saint of the Diocese of České Budějovice)and sv. Auratiána (patron saint of Czech Budejovice).
The church was rebuilt several times significantly. Today's appearance is up to 17th century.
Behind the church on the east side is a Baroque chapel Mortal Anxiety Lord, built in the years 1727-1731 an unknown architect.
Since May 2011, the cathedral was rebuilt. Again newly open from 1 June 2013.
