History of the town

The camp was founded in 1420 by the Hussites, followers of the radical movement, and featured the then independent of the state variables with political economy, its own armed force, and even foreign policy. Authority of King as sovereign country Taborites not recognize at all or only formally. In 1437 the city received from the Holy Roman Emperor and Czech King Sigismund privilege to Tabor conferring the status of a royal town. But it was only in 1452 surrendered the army camp bailiff George of Podebrady and proud community of King recognized for his master.
