The organisation of exhibitions in South Bohemia has a long tradition that goes back to the middle of last century. As early as 1848, anniversary markets took place in České Budějovice four times a year.
The current activities of the joint-stock company continue in this tradition with, since 1960, the organisation of regional agricultural exhibitions. Since 1972, the exhibition named "National agricultural exhibition Země živitelka České Budějovice" has taken place. In 1981, the administration of the exhibition site was transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and Nutrition of the Czech Republic.
On 1 January 1994, Park Centrum, a.s. was established pursuant to privatisation. In 1997, the new name and logo of the company were adopted - "Výstaviště České Budějovice, a.s." In 1999, the joint-stock company substantially strengthened its image by gaining the ČSN EN ISO 9001 certificate.
Looking back into recent history, the greatest increase of exhibition activities occurred after 1990. Thanks to a well-thought-out strategy, it has managed to create a solid base of prosperity with a whole series of exhibition events. In this way it has strengthened the position of the České Budějovice exhibition grounds among exhibition administrations and sites and has taken the number two position in the entire Czech Republic. Moreover, the site was utilised otherwise within lease and active business participation activities. Providing services in the sphere of advertising has contributed to the more intensive utilisation of current production capacities and human resources.
The improvement of economic results and investments into the site has lead to greater utilisation of the exhibition site, prolongation of the exhibition season and an improvement in the quality of provided services.
