Aleš South Bohemian Gallery is the only art museum in the South region, which is one of the five largest institutions of its kind in the Czech Republic. Launched first January 1953 and the title was named the South Bohemian native painter Mikolas Ales ( 1852-1913 ) .
Its headquarters is in April 1956 by former neo riding stables Hluboká Castle (built 1845-1847 by Viennese architect Franz Beer, Budweiser adapted 1953-1955 architect Jaroslav Fidra ) . In 1967 set up branch
- AJG ceramics department , which is located in a refurbished building of the former castle brewery in Bechyni .
From 1993 opened in Czech Budejovice (Street of the Black Tower 22) for exhibition purposes reconstructed Wortner house AJG , Renaissance Gothic building was rebuilt in the 16th century .
In their collections AJG focuses mainly by large and renowned collection of Gothic art from southern Bohemia and the Bohemian Forest . This is complemented parts of Czech and European art
16th - 19th century , among them a remarkable collection of Dutch paintings . A collection of old art continues both in quality and range of a significant collection of modern Czech
and contemporary art. It covers almost all the important personalities and opinion topics
with a particular emphasis fantastic line art.
Bechyňská International Museum of Ceramics AJG collects modern Czech
and the global ceramics and porcelain from the results of international symposia ceramics Bechyně
in 1966 and from purchases . Besides cultural programs , lectures and concerts organized by AJG
since 1957 in Deep nad Vltavou one of the oldest music festivals
in the Czech Republic Music Summer Deep .
